Crestview Fire Fighters to fill boots with donations to MDA
CRESTVIEW, FL July 21, 2004 -- In observance of the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of the partnership between the International Association of Fire Fighters and the Muscular Dystrophy Association, fifteen members of the Crestview Professional Fire Fighter Association will conduct the annual Fill-the-Boot drive on Saturday, July 24th to benefit MDA.
Proceeds raised during the street side campaign will help support MDA services and research programs for people with more than 40 neuromuscular diseases at area MDA clinics.
Fire fighters will be at the intersection of Highway 90 and 85 from 9am to 5pm, asking motorists to drop donations their boots. Fill the Boot campaigns are among the primary ways in which fire fighters across the country have raised nearly $200 million nationwide for MDA's fight against neuromuscular diseases since 1954.
"Fire fighters are so inspirational. In 1954 they promised to continue their efforts until a cure is found, and 50 years later, that is exactly what they are doing," MDA Regional Director Susan King Poole adds. "We can't say ‘thank you' enough".
